About Xurxo Martínez

A journalist who doesn't write. A product manager who doesn't code.I have been working in digital newsrooms for more than 20 years, both as a member of the editorial team, as an external provider, and then back as a manager. During this time I've helped to built more than twenty websites, from small niche ones to big projects with more than 10 million unique users a month. Right now I'm in charge of Digital Strategy for El Periódico (elperiodico.com) and as Deputy Editor overview the editorial work of the Local and Society teams. Previously I've worked both in editorial positions in the newsroom, as a Product Manager connecting the different stakeholders of a media company (newsroom, marketing, technology, advertising...), and as an external consultant for media companies. Another of my key focuses as a PM (for El Periódico and Sport) has been to provide editorial teams with the best possible tools to do their work. Among the different companies I have worked for before El Periódico and Sport there are web Portals (Terra, Yahoo!), editorial outlets (La Voz de Galicia, ADN.es—Planeta group—), Start-ups (Fresqui—Domestika group—) and Technology Providers (Bitban).
