Assessed the diagnostic market opportunity for a therapy area, identifying likely genes to target for screening and companies developing screening tests. Object was to identify business development opportunities for acquisition and licensing deals.

Discovered and characterized new discrete blood stem cell populations.Developed screenings to study drug-target effects on the proliferation of human blood stem cells.Designed and executed cell-identification (flow cytometry) protocols to analyze blood stem cells, with transferable application to other stem cell populations. Trained teammates in flow cytometry protocols, and co-authored one review article on the subject.

Created novel mouse genetic models to study p15Paf function in the immune system. Discovered that p15Paf is important for the proper development of blood stem cells. Made several advances in learning more about p15 role in the development of cancer. Led a pilot cross-functional team to develop antibodies against p15Paf protein, resulting in significant operational efficiencies for our lab, and an improvement of strategy in the production of new antibodies at MSKCC-monoclonal antibody core facility.
