Assists the Superintendent in overseeing the daily operations of the Reading School District. Directly responsible for Athletics, Communications, Diversity & Equity, Information Technology, Facilities, Food Service, Safe Schools, Translation & Interpretation, and Transportation.

Lead a dynamic system that accurately and effectively assesses community needs and guides United Way’s contributions to community priorities in the areas of education, income (financial stability), health and safety net services.  Manage the Community Impact department and direct reports; lead strategic planning; facilitate/promote collaboration and problem solving by working with community partners to identify and or develop programs to improve community conditions.

 Engage the community, provider partner (health, child care education services and other not for profit organizations), local government, funders, businesses, and other key constituents in the implementation of the Allentown Promise Neighborhood as a model for community building in the Lehigh Valley.  Serve as a catalyst for our community to embrace opportunities to substantially improving the lives of the children, families, and residents in the Promise Neighborhoods; resulting in extended support, and long term commitment to priorities, vision and mission of Promise Neighborhoods.  Act as lead staff to the governing body of PNLV. Develop meeting agendas, communicate with members to advance strategic direction, implementation and refinement of strategies and end results.  Act as the operational manager of the PNLV office(s), including direct supervision of any staff and volunteers.  Convene/co-convene committees, action teams, or other groups focused on advancing the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the Promise Neighborhoods.  Strategically represent the PNLV’s initiative to become an independent 501©3 organization including alignment with United Way and other community partners and funders.  Identify and develop financial resources necessary to implement and strengthen the Promise Neighborhood, as well as opportunities for expanded public/private partnerships  Serve as chief fundraiser for the APN by securing/leveraging new resources in collaboration with volunteers and community partners  Develop annual results-based accountability “report card” related to both systemic and customer strategies and results to share with key stakeholders and the community

Ensure the development of comprehensive policies, procedures and processes which address all aspects of the educational program for a public charter high school serving over 350 learners and their families. Duties include, but is not limited to:= Curriculum design, content, and evaluation= Faculty certification and professional development= Hiring, retention and evaluation of teaching faculty, administrators, support staff, and other required personnel= Department of Education, Student, Faculty, Support Staff, Parent and Community Relations= Plant operation, health, safety and security= Provide professional support to the Board of Directors inclusive of the Finance, Facilities, Human Resources, Fund Development/Marketing Committees= Engage the organization in strategic planning for the purpose of reflection, review, analysis, and effecting changes that will promote and enrich the school’s services to students, families and communities= Convert strategic goals contained in the school’s charter into policies and implementation plans, action steps, ensuring their completion within identified time parameters= Seek and secure fiscal resources that support and augment programs including non-DOE funds and competitive grant applications= Provide leadership in the development and management of the school’s annual budget= Provide leadership in developing collaborative partnerships and relationships, with consumers, public and private organizations, networks, institutions and individuals, to promote and enhance the school’s ability to meet its mission= Serve as an ambassador and public spokesperson for the school and seek opportunities to promote a positive image of the school and its program= Represent the school at local, regional and national meetings and conferences

Ensure the development of comprehensive policies, procedures and processes which address all aspects of the educational program for a K-5 public charter school serving over 250 students and their families.

 Develop and implement strategies to engage community partners in achieving UWD’s strategic goals Direct the ongoing implementation of multiple Strategic Focus Areas Work collaboratively with Vice President, Strategy and Marketing to provide overall leadership
