During my internship at the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), I gained in-depth experience in policy development and the integration of equity in healthcare. Working with the Ethics, Minority Affairs, and Living Donor committees, I observed and contributed to the creation and refinement of organ allocation policies. I engaged with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and patient representatives, learning how public feedback shapes policy adjustments. This role enhanced my skills in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement, and provided me with insights into the challenges of ensuring equity, particularly in organ donation for marginalized communities.

As the Economic Justice Intern at GoochlandCares, I supported clients, staff, and volunteers across various levels of care, actively contributing to programs focused on addressing generational poverty and trauma. Through both observational and hands-on roles, I reinforced the organization’s mission to provide a vital safety net for those in need. Additionally, I gained insight into nonprofit operations, including governance and organizational structure, while engaging in both client-oriented and administrative tasks.

Race and Racism Summer Research Project 2022 As part of the UR Race and Racism Summer Research Project 2022 - Revealing Resistance, I conducted original archival research focused on the history of the enslaved burying ground on campus and the legacies of former University President Robert Ryland and Rector Douglas Southall Freeman. This research led to the publication of a podcast and allowed me to present my findings at Roanoke College’s conference and the Arts and Science Symposium at the University of Richmond, further contributing to the work of the Inclusive History initiative.

As the Vacation Bible School Coordinator for the Trenton Citadel Corps, I managed the Vacation Bible School program alongside Corps Officers. I designed curriculum, developed a schedule, and planned age-appropriate activities to support children's academic, social, and spiritual growth. In addition, I recruited, trained, and supervised a team of 15 student volunteers. In my administrative role, I collaborated closely with parents and worked with the full Trenton Salvation Army staff to ensure a successful program.
