I have six years of experience as an ESL teacher, specializing in students aged 3 to 18 with predominant students being primary school children. Over the years, I evolved into a senior teacher with additional responsibilities in management and mentorship, compared to general teacher roles. My primary duties included teaching classes for 20-30 hours weekly, maintaining communication with parents regarding student progress, scheduling classes, mentoring new teachers, providing product-oriented and academic training, managing diverse school projects, charging school events, and handling emergent situations, such as arranging coverage for teachers on sick leave.Teaching has been my passion. I consistently explored various methods to deliver better lesson by observing classes of more experienced peers, applying different pedagogical skills, and engaging in discussions with colleagues. My goal was to create as much student participation in class to improve their learning experience in an engaging and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels respected and free to express themselves. For me, the most rewarding part of teaching was witnessing students’ increasing confidence in their ability of learning and interacting with others in the classroom. My biggest takeaway from this job was my perspective on teaching, shifting from evaluating students primarily based on academic outcomes to appraising them holistically. In my opinion, every individual student is unique with the possession of distinct capabilities in mastering new knowledge and skills during their development. Focusing exclusively on particular aspects of students when assessing their progress may lead to biased views. Coming from a hierarchical educational background, I reject the traditional 'teacher-as-authority' teaching model. Instead, I am influenced by the teaching philosophy to empower students in learning and guide them to take control of their own learning. While I have adhered to this philosophy, I acknowledge that there is room for improvement in achieving more satisfactory results in my future teaching career.I am an experienced teacher, but not a perfect or flawless teacher. I am always enthusiastic for continuous improvement in the field of teaching and for greater influence on peer teachers and students as well. I am excited to bring my passion for teaching to your school and continue refining myself as an ESL teacher.
