Participated in basic research involving the determination of spatial 3D molecular organization of hair cell stereocilia. Executed computer work for research (3D volume reconstruction, inspection, visualization, and analysis). Gained experience working Linux Shell terminal, and image analysis software including Chimera, Amira, IMOD, and Image J. Underwent intensive electron microscopy sectioning training under the Berkeley Microscopy Lab.

Assisted students in organic chemistry lab (Chem 3AL) with basic lab techniques including column chromatography,TLC analysis, liquid-liquid extraction, and recrystallization. Communicated with graduate students and lecturers to devise ways to improve learning experience in introductory organic chemistry.

Participated as an AmeriCorps member in an award-winning network of volunteers who provide individualized attention and positive adult-child relationships to prepare children attending preschool in low-income neighborhoods for academic success. Implemented early childhood curriculum, supported family involvement, promoted language and literacy skills through ongoing relationships with partner children. Collaborated with five team members to plan biweekly in-classroom activities for a class of 15 preschool children. Received intensive training and professional development in early childhood theory and practice, language and literacy development, leadership skills, and communication with families.
