Yang (Li) Allen Email and Phone Number

I am a Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Politics, The New School for Social Research. Prior to The New School, I received two MA degrees, one in political science from George Mason University and the other in area studies, focusing on China and East Asia, from Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea). My academic interests relate to the divides between rural and urban China, such as comparisons of governance, policies, and experiences in the countryside and cities. My doctoral dissertation explores how China governs public goods and services, focusing on the case of public toilets. My recent book chapter, "Rural-Urban Satisfaction Towards China’s Public Goods and Services Provision," was included in New Frontiers in Regional Science: Asian Perspectives (edited by A. Batabyal et al., Springer, 2021). I have received several fellowships and grants from institutions such as The New School, India China Institute, and Confucius Institute (Hanban). I also have five years of experience teaching undergraduate social science and humanities courses.
