As a journalist at China Daily newspaper for five years, I have enjoyed covering healthcare news and documenting changes in Chinese society and the healthcare system. I have interviewed dozens of renowned Chinese physicians from top-level hospitals, in addition to experts and officials within the country’s medical system, many of whom are now familiar faces to the newspaper’s readers both in China and overseas. Working for China Daily’s core department —Cover Story, I have become skilled at writing in-depth reports in English, which require great awareness how to tell Chinese stories with an international angle. The role has been particularly rewarding because of its emphasis on China’s medical sector and a healthcare system that affects the lives of the country’s population of 1.3 billion people.
