Also serving as general manager of the related product areas on Alibaba Cloud.Head of the System in AI Lab, Damo Academy (Alibaba's research institute).With a team of talented engineers and scientists, we build advanced data analytics and AI algorithms for e-commerce and cloud clients. Major products include:- MaxCompute/Hologres, serverless data warehouses- Dataworks, data development and governance platform- Real time Compute with Apache Flink- Elastic MapReduce with open source analytic tools- Platform for AI (PAI)We conduct advanced AI algorithm and system developments and have published some of the world's largest multi-modal AI models.

Founding engineer, and later founding director of Facebook's AI Infrastructure org. Created, hired, and grown multiple team members and directors in the org.We build Facebook's large-scale AI platform across the board, supporting AI product use cases such as Ads, Feed, Search ranking, computer vision, speech, natural language processing, VR and AR applications. Created and led the development of Caffe2, which continues the open-source philosophy of Caffe, to empower innovative deep-learning applications. Caffe2go was delivered to a billion phones, delivering real-time AI in every single Facebook app in the world.Initiated and led other influential AI solutions in the industry. Created ONNX the open neural network standard, and launched it together with Microsoft, Amazon and many hardware vendors. In 2018, built on top of the success of Caffe2, PyTorch, and ONNX, I co-led the project to merge the efforts and to create PyTorch 1.0 - the next version of our open source AI framework that aims to ease the process of research, exploration, production, and scaling for the AI community.The team I built continued to grow its scope, eventually becoming a 300+ person org that spans multiple tech pillars in Facebook’s AI research and products.
