Sr. Tech leader of NPD (New Product Development): Leading the most challenging large-scale NPD program (over $10M investment) in TFS China R&D center from the business proposal through the final commercialization: Next generation chromatograph sample preparation development. The technical challenge covers the complicated fluidics design and mechanical automation to achieve the fully automated application including gas assisted solvent extraction under high pressure and high temperature, in line cleanup, in line evaporation, fixed volume detection/collection, integrated sample tracking, as well as multiple channel parallel processing. Taking the full responsibility of the NPD program planning and execution, and managing the cross function, cross site (USA, Singapore, Shanghai) technical communication and stakeholders’ expectations.

• Manages over 50 staff with multi-functional technical talents including ME, EE, SW, SE, DVV. Be accountable for the core engineering team development in terms of capability, capacity, processes, teamwork, prioritization, and communication.• Leads NPD with a wide variety of projects, serving various markets and internal business units. Implement chromatograph sample preparation platform in China R&D center.• Drives rigorous New Product Development process, technical reviews, tractability, and contingency planning to minimize project risks, and advances the overall discipline of risk-based project execution. Leads team to investigate and implement new technologies/tools to remain innovative and competitive in product design, cost effectiveness and schedule adherence.

• Manage, motivate and direct a team of over 15 mechanical engineers to support NPD projects including Microplate reader, Western blotter, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Online water quality analyzer, Air quality analyzer, etc.• Ensure ME resource and process in place to support NPD projects. Continuously identify and upgrade the gaps in terms of the capability and process.• Accountable for mechanical engineering execution to meet the project Quality/Cost/Delivery targets. Control risks and ensure design outputs quality.

• Program manager for HP consumer notebook product development. Key focus on strategic direction, multiple project management, project execution against aggressive time to market schedule, project healthiness, risk management.• Drive/guide ODM mechanical R&D team and tooling/NPI team for HP consumer notebook development, build relationship with ODMs to ensure efficient communication and successful delivery.

• Mechanical engineering lead for Dell Optiplex desktop development, including understanding marketing requests, feature sets, technologies and standards, performing system layout study, identifying technical issues, managing investigations to ensure successful implementation• Project execution including project schedule, cost estimate, design review, tooling review, PPAP qualification. Manage ODM mechanical designs, continuous improvement, and ensure efficient communication and successful delivery.

• As China Technical Representative, responsible for operation engineering activities between Asian suppliers and Canada engineering & operation• Production transferring from oversea to China for lower cost and New Product Introduce (NPI) with Contract manufacturers for the rugged handheld or vehicle mounted mobile computers.
