• Aimed to Improve traffic flow for vehicles exiting and into Blacksburg on Game Day:
• Recorded vehicular flow data after seven games to understand the traffic flows under different circumstances
• Analyzed the collected data to quantify the arrival patterns of vehicles and then developed a well-designed simulation model to reflect the current state of post-game traffic routes
• Provided the possible improvements to the traffic operation procedures by analyzing the simulation model
• Measured flows based on the time in systems for vehicles in simulation to test the impact of recommendations

• Aimed to apply the advanced Operations Research on Sewage Treatment Model:
• Studied the advanced Operations Research knowledge through literature reviews, especially for their implementations on simulation, facility locating problems and maximal coverage problems
• Assumed two scenarios for solving water pollution cleaning problem in Roanoke River:✓ #1. With giving unlimited funds, what the minimum number of trash booms need to be invested in a certain period to completely.
• Used nonlinear programming with OpenSolver to optimize the two objectivities
• Visualized the data and optimal solutions in graphs to demonstrate the results more clearly.
• Tested the quality of these two schemes repeatedly by adding the testing points from 25 to 200 and recorded the running time and the performance of OpenSolver

• Researched previous cases to analyze the gap between estimated raw material cost of stainless steel and its actual cost
• Analyzed uncertainty factors that may affect the accuracy of the raw material cost estimation
• Conducted sensitivity analysis and calculated the impact of potential fluctuations on the return on investment
• Estimated the economic benefits of the project and created a feasibility report of increasing company’s revenue by 3%

• Aimed to use eye-tracking technology to evaluate surgical techniques of two types of doctors (attending and resident):
• Collected the eyeball positions of the subject on the screen while watching the surgical video in a coordinate system and asked the subjects to finish the questionnaire about the surgical details afterward
• Pre-processed data to remove the non-conforming data and correct erroneous data with R
• Calculated the mean and squared difference of each data set and used One-way ANOVA to analyze whether there was a significant difference between the two groups
• Visualized the sorted out data and then compared the difference between the two groups with 3D scatter plots and 2D plot
