- Designed, built, and demonstrated one of the first optical CDMA ring networks that incorporated nonlinear optical loop mirror-based add/drop multiplexers for truly asynchronous add/drop operations and self-healing protection circuits to ensure service availability during link failure- Supervised four undergraduate student’s research projects in: characterization of single-mode fibers to multiple mode fiber combiner, study in various optical sources, investigation of residual noise in optical ring networks, and analysis of interferometric noise in fiber-optic systems- Presented research in major scientific conferences, such as Optical Fiber Communication Conference, Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, and Workshop on Interconnections within High Speed Digital Systems.

Intelligent Robotics Laboratory- Implemented an omni-directional camera on a robot called Robovie-M and used Visual C++ to build an interface software to control the robot movement and capture images from the camera
