Designed and implemented one of Hootsuite's earliest microservices fully leveraging Akka's actor system. Wrote first generation actor-based back-pressure mechanism to control resource utilization. Demonstrated the ability to greatly reduce computing resources using this service when compared to the original single-threaded, multi-process implementation, resulting in significant operating cost savings.With a group of senior developers, designed and implemented the first microservice-based abstraction layer for all social network interactions. This service was scaled to handle tens of thousands of request per second and remains one of the building blocks which has helped Hootsuite evolve its original monolithic architecture towards microservices.
