The job involves contacting the potential conference participants and working on the conference panel.

October, 2015-Present, review online manuscripts for the Journal which fall within my area of expertise.

As Professor Saville Kushner's assistant, I take the lead of his PhD students’ discussion group. On this position I help to choose the discussion topics and themes, and I write summaries of the weekly discussion. I also help our group members to develop their plan for completing the provisional year tasks, say how to structure the full proposal, how to go through the ethics application and how to organise the presentation.I also organise his seminars and the latest one being the joint event by The Social Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (Superu) and the University of Auckland (Professor Saville Kushner) for Ron Haskins (Brookings Institute) in March, 2016. I still remember all the communicating process: the Dawsons Company for meals and drinking, the Superu for the guest list and the layout of the conference hall, the administrative staff in the faculty for the devices needed, and the IT people for multimedia support. The trick for a successful event/ task where different cultures and values are involved is probably patience, respect and effective communication, but being decisive when necessary.What has made me proud however is the academic tour I organised for Professor Saville Kushner in April, 2016. In my three years' PhD studying in University of Auckland, I found it practical and important to deepen mutual understanding between the Western and the Oriental scholars, Saville is my supervisor and a top international scholar who shows interest in knowing more about China, so I took the initiatives and contacted five universities back in China to plan a cultural tour and academic exchange. This lecture tour covered more than 2000 kilometres travel distance and turned out very fruitful for all sides both in academic and cultural sense. This success was secured by numerous communications with all parties, and decision-makings in terms of lecture topics, simultaneous interpretation, accommodations and transportation.

2013 - Present (3 years)I have been learning case study and program evaluation after Professor Saville Kushner. My research focused on social function of schooling, in terms of both methodology and substance. I am also interested in the process of indigenization of the Western theories in the Chinese local context. Academic learning however is not all as I have been actively involved in many other activities.

During my PhD study in Auckland, I have always been thinking of how to improve the educational and cultural exchange between the Western educational institutes and Chinese colleges. So I took the initiatives to make it happen. I firstly build the connection between the International Office, the Faculty of Education and Social Work, The University of Auckland and the corresponding institute in Zhuhai College, Jilin University in Zhuhai, south China. I coordinated and brought into being the international exchange in co-educational program of these two educational institutes. The program agreement was signed in April, 2015 and the Zhuhai College had sent the first visiting group of students in August, 2016. I then replicated the same working module and co-ordinated the signing of the Agreement of Educational Cooperation Programme between The Faculty of Education and Social Work and Zhoukou Advanced Normal University in April, 2016.

April 2014 - April 2015 (1 month)As a student rep, I am actively involved in raising student voice to the postgraduate committee in the faculty. On this position I mainly help to solve the problems occurred among the postgraduates and take proactive steps to potential problems caused by cultural difference.
