Led the formation, strategic direction and operation of this modular building and housing company including obtaining start-up finance, recruiting a leading management team, establishing a factory and securing the initial order book.ONM was the first modular manufacturer to deliver ‘Net Zero’ building, as standard, into the specialist housing sector.

VHL is a technical consultancy within the offsite construction sector. Projects have included:➢ Development of leading edge systems and processes specifically for the offsite construction sector in association with UK universities such as De Montfort University and leading commercial companies. ➢ Development of timber and steel based systems achieving levels 4, 5 & 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and also Passi-haus standards.➢ Delivery of two projects under the Retrofit for the Future programme (Newcastle City Council and East Midlands Housing Association).➢ Technical consultant designing carbon neutral housing within the pPod consortium, winners of Carbon Challenge (Peterborough site). ➢ Review and analysis of Yorkshire & Humber Regions offsite capability for the Regional Development Agency, including proposals for future direction.➢ Appointed on behalf of English Partnerships, to act as the Offsite Construction Technical Specialist person within the Peer Review team to review the success of the Government’s £60k house competition.

CLS➢ Directed operational start-up of this modular building production facility to meet CLS’s commitment (£90m) within the largest MOD (Ministry of Defence) PFI (Private Finance Initiative) project (£1.2bn). Realigned the production facility including implementing capital projects and lean manufacturing (achieving project savings of 10%, £9m) to bring the project back to profitability. Advance Housing➢ Reporting to CEO of Barratt Developments, headed start up with full P&L responsibility for a joint venture to manufacture houses in a factory. Produced and implemented the business-plan from business start-up to full operation.

Brand Rex➢ Recruited as Group Supply Chain Manager for this 4 site £120m company. Restructured site based functions into a single company Industrial Planning function, with annual savings of £4.6m. Carried out strategic sourcing and ‘make versus buy’ analysis leading to outsourcing of some product manufacture to Europe and Asia. Interim➢ Two roles as Operations Director for an electronics business and also Programme Manager for a business start-up to support a major blue chip company.Dagnall Electronics➢ Recruited as General Manager with full P&L responsibility for this £1.1m turnover electronic component manufacturer. Drove a change programme and implemented a diverse product supply strategy, increasing turnover by 272% (£3m), improving lead-times (66%) and product quality (25%).Pedigree Petfoods ➢ Responsible for development of a 2 site business area consisting of £30m asset base, 216 people and with an operational budget of £15.6m. Created and implemented a 3-year plan resulting in annual savings of £3.9m labour and £5.4m operational cost.
