Being part of the Cosmic DAWN´s group at the Niels Bohr Institute I contributed to the research towads a complete census of quasars (the active centers of galaxies) with the ultimate goal of understanding how galaxies evolve through the cosmic history. • Implemented various supervised machine learning models (XGBoost, LightGBM, kNN, RandomForest, SVM, Naive Bayes, Linear Regresion) for classification and regression purposes. • Achieved accuracies higher than 99% using the XGBoost Classifier and a root-mean-square-percent-error (rmspe) of 9% for the regression part. • Created astronomical catalogues of ~ 4 million objects combining surveys from different telescopes using SQL. • Implemented unsupervised models such as t-SNE and PCA. • Hands-on experience in big data cleaning using python. • Observed for two consecutive nights at the Nordic Optical Telescope in La Palma, Canary Islands. I was responsible for operating the instruments and collecting the data/signals for my research as well as for other projects.
