Between 2018 to 2022, I served as a flight attendant with Hong Kong Airlines, I was exposed to the cosmopolitan culture and the diverse tastes of the world. The international nature of my role ignited an interest in the world of wines and spirits, leading to a career switch in 2022 as an Assistant Marketing Manager in this field.My years in aviation equipped me with excellent customer service, communication skills, and an understanding of diverse consumer behaviors. These competencies proved invaluable in my new role, as did the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines with Merit I earned, which provided a solid grounding in the wine industry. This comprehensive introduction to the world of wine gave me a solid grounding in the principal types of wines and their production, the understanding of grape varieties, and knowledge about key wine-producing regions worldwide. This allowed me to speak confidently about wines and contribute substantially to my company's marketing strategies.My new role offered me ample opportunities to apply my newly gained knowledge. I have been involved in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for our product line, ensuring we reach the right audience effectively and eloquently. I also liaise with our sales team and distributors to coordinate our marketing efforts, making sure they align with our company's goals and vision.From designing promotional materials and writing compelling content about our products to analyzing market trends and consumer behavior, I engage in a wide range of tasks. I have learned to navigate the complexities of the global wine and spirits market, often drawing parallels between the unique challenges faced by an airline and the beverage industry.Indeed, my journey from a flight attendant to an Assistant Marketing Manager in the wine and spirits industry has been one of continuous learning, growth, and adaption.
