Bangkok Metropolitan Area

• Project planner and initiator of a research grant involving ways to connect Bangkok’s canals to Metro Rapid Transit (MRT) transit stations. Bangkok has over a thousand canals; most of them are lined with slums and informal settlements. The City of Bangkok is now in the process of implementing this policy. • Provide initial conceptual design framework for the Luoyang civic center design, commercial complex design, and urban design. • Initiated a community solar housing project with CODI and a Singaporean researcher/investor, involving 46 households where by the housing co-ops could sell electricity back to the grid and get Feed-in-Tariff. (Status: Installation completed. Now selling electricity to the grid at 6.85 baht/kWh) These housing co-ops were formerly ‘slums’ and ‘informal settlements.These former squatters now earn up to 2500 THB per month by selling electricity to the grid. They use this extra cash as micro-credit to pay back their housing loan to the government and to start new businesses.

Kao Yai, Thailand

Master Planning and Design of the ACLC campus (60 million baht investment cost)See: http://www.allgreenlearningcenter.org/Shareholder of AGLC in partnership with Grenzone Thailand and Goh Foundation, Singapore. A campus for sharing ideas about sustainable building technology such as Building Integrated solar PV (BIPV), rammed earth, bamboo construction, and water purification.Students from Singapore Polytechnic University collaborate and share ideas with students from Thai universities in common campus dormitory. Aside from regular forum and debates, students are encouraged to think collaboratively while hiking outdoors at the nearby Kao Yai National Park.
