CurrentSt. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® Critical Care Advanced Practice Practitioner coveringCritical Care Physician Assistant • Rotate coverage between Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)• Assist collaborating physicians in providing detailed history and physical examination, order diagnostic tests and labs, interpret test results, prescribe medication, generate assessment, and treatment plans.• Order and place calls for specialty consults corresponding to the patient’s condition.• Handle calls from Emergency Room for new admissions, upgrades from meg-surg floors and provide patient care in the PACU admitted to the ICUs/IMCUs.• Respond and direct Rapid Response Team (RRTs) and Cardiac Arrest Codes with critical care team and perform ACLS protocol• Respond to Neuro RRT codes and Stroke Codes in place of neuro APP team during after-hours and night shifts including performing neuro exams, NIH stroke scales, activation of inpatient stroke code protocols including placing calls to CT scan and neuro-interventionalist for CT scan results and next steps. • Management of patients on mechanical ventilations, non-invasive ventilation devices including BIPAPs/ CPAPs Skills and Procedures: Ultrasound-guided Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) & Midline catheter placement. Ultrasound-guided Central Venous Lines in the RIJ, subclavian, or femoral veins, Shiley central venous catheter for hemodialysis, Pulmonary artery catheter (Swan-Ganz) Ultrasound-guided arterial lines, peripheral venous lines ABGs, Nasogastric tube Placement, Urinary Foley Catheterization, Fecal Management Tube placement Removal of Chest Tubes & epicardial pacing wires post-op cardiac surgeries
