Shannon Yarbrough is a Decatur, Georgia based writer and teacher with a passion for helping people find their voices through writing. She has taught writing for over a decade in a variety of contexts, from college writing centers to the Harpswell Foundation in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Shannon is the 2021-22 recipient of the Flannery O'Connor Award from Georgia College for excellence in creative writing and was selected as a finalist for Ruminate Magazine's 2020 VanderMey Nonfiction Prize. She has received support from the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers' Conference, Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, The Hambidge Center, Wildacres Retreat, and In Cahoots in Petaluma, CA. In addition to creating and teaching, Shannon has a passion for international travel. She has traveled to six continents and led high schoolers abroad to France, Italy, and Argentina through the Experiment in International Living.
