• Implant training at SAIL-SCL Kerala Ltd., Kozhikode from 10th December 2013 to 9th January 2014 as a part of Academic Project.• The objective of the project was to suggest manufacturing technique of Special Steel of grade SS316, by making changes in existing manufacturing system, with less investment cost.• Closely studied all the process in the plant and compared it with processes required for manufacturing SS316. • Project suggested 13 simple techniques which are of less cost to be implemented in SAIL-SCL for manufacturing SS316 using current equipments and furnaces itself and some enhancements as well. Project was submitted within 30 days.Responsibilities Involved:• Acquiring knowledge about History of Company, Company Profile, Plant profile and functions of each Department.• Studying production process in mild steel manufacturing in SAIL-SCL and understanding each process and its functions.• Deep study on the furnaces and equipments used and the effect of flaws in those equipments on the efficiency of the process.• Comparing all those processes with Modern Steel Making Techniques using several References.• Finding the exact product mix of SS316.• Leading the project team through various paths to find less expensive ways of manufacturing SS316 without making any major changes in the plant.• Documenting all the Data collected during the project and finally submitting the suggestions found to convert SAIL-SCL from a Mild Steel manufacturer to a Special Steel Maker thus increasing the chance of making more profit from the existing plant.
