The RockSat-X program is an initiative by the Colorado Space Grant Consortium in conjunction with NASA's Sounding Rocket Program Office (SRPO) to provide low-cost access to space for university student design teams.Teams are allotted a modular payload space on a sounding rocket which is launched every August from NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The Virginia Tech team has participated in the program for the past 4 years and has successfully completed a variety of experiments. The team’s overarching mission is to demonstrate and advance space-based technology for the benefit of the public.

Coursework: Software Design and Data Structures, Foundations of Engineering II, Intro to Computer Organization I, Intro to Human-Computer Interaction, Intro to Discrete Math, Intro to Multivariable Calculus, Foundations of Physics, Foundations of Physics Lab, Foundations of Engineering I, Intro to Problem Solving in Computer Science, Calculus of a Single Variable, General Chemistry and General Chemistry Lab.

Programming Methodology: Attended Stanford Summer Session for Introduction to the engineering of computer applications emphasizing modern software engineering principles: program design, decomposition, encapsulation, abstraction, and testing with Emphasis on good programming style and the built-in facilities of respective languages using python programming language. This course carries 5 Stanford University academic credit units and a Stanford transcript.
