About Yash Vyas

Yash Vyas's journey in academia, research, education (teaching and supervision), and professional experiences forms the foundation of his accomplishments and impact-driven career trajectory. His vision is to build a career within sustainable infrastructure, inspiring others to solve multidisciplinary problems of a clean-tech future. Currently, his expertise extends to sustainable systems, decarbonization strategy, deep energy retrofit and building envelope design, and building automation.Yash's research, published in reputable journals and presented at conferences, focuses on innovative methods of developing solutions for sustainable construction materials, identifying sustainability talent skills gaps, evaluating the airtightness of building energy consumption, and assessing the impacts of sustainable policies on equity-seeking groups. Beyond academia, he has excelled as a Building Scientist, demonstrating a versatile skill set in energy modeling, retrofit analysis, decarbonization planning, and building condition assessments. Specifically, Yash played a pivotal role in securing research projects funded by the NSERC Alliance Grant and Mitacs Accelerate, and collaborating with industry partners such as the National Research Council of Canada, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers to acquire total funding of $431,000 CAD.In addition to his scholarly interests, Yash has been able to guide and inspire through teaching virtual and in-person courses across Canada. Topics of his delivery include but are not limited to: (1) sustainable energy systems, (2) multidisciplinary sustainability, and (3) building science studio focused on net-zero construction. Over the past three years, his instructional efforts have touched the lives of approximately 600 students from Toronto Metropolitan University and 2000 students from 15 different institutions across Canada.
