My final year project was "Development of decision support system (DSS) for ranking of manufacturing system criteria by multi criteria decision making (MCDM)"​.We have implemented our project in Indus Motor Company (IMC) Karachi.A high-quality manufacturing system should be capable to meet the company goals. Moreover, it is essential for any organization that its manufacturing system should be aligned with company’s strategy. There is always a potential for improvement in components of manufacturing systems but it is also essential to identify the particular areas of the components that need improvement. In this project we have identified the under performed criteria and their associated sub-criteria of manufacturing system using literature and expert’s opinion.We have used MCDM method based DSS developed for ranking of criteria and improvement of decision making regarding manufacturing system respectively.In this project, we first identified the criteria of manufacturing system of customer satisfaction (CS) line of Indus Motor Company by using SIPOC tool and literature review and then ranked the identified criteria by developing a decision support system(DSS) in MS excel of multi criteria decision making(MCDM) tool -analytical hierarchy process (AHP).The AHP is an advanced operations research tool used for optimizing and improving decision making. We used MS excel for developing AHP -DSS. Results: This project provided provide basis of decision making to manufacturing / production / operations managers in implementing or focusing key areas / criteria related to manufacturing systems. We proposed a MCDM based ranking of major and sub-criteria of good manufacturing systems .We provided IMC a DSS for quantifying and ranking of manufacturing system criteria. This project helped them to make their decisions regarding production and operations processes criteria more rational, accurate and simple.
