Hi, I'm Yasmine, an experienced non-profit professional with a passion for social justice advocacy and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). My journey began during her college years at a predominately white institution in DC, coinciding with the inception of the Black Lives Matter movement and the presidential campaign of President Trump in 2015. During this time, I fearlessly led efforts to defend the newly established Center for Cultural Engagement, organizing against students and faculty to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the university. Not content with fighting for justice solely on campus, I also actively participated in evening protests as part of the Black Lives Matter movement. I passionately supported students of color who had fallen victim to hate crimes and worked to create a safe and inclusive environment for all.After graduating, I embarked on a career in education as a teacher. However, my dedication to empowering marginalized communities led me to take action once again. I began organizing a charter school, advocating for better working conditions and the rights of migrant educators. Inspired by my experiences, I decided to devote myself fully to labor organizing. I joined the Worker's Justice Project, where I focused on supporting migrant day laborers and played a crucial role in the successful campaign for minimum pay for New York City's app-based delivery workers in June 2023.In the fall of 2022, I became a member of DSA, drawn to their organizing campaigns. Since then, I have actively participated in meetings, events, and canvassing efforts, particularly within the Racial Justice Working Group. Now, as the People Operations Manager at DSA, I am excited to leverage her diverse skill set to support all the impactful work carried out by the organization.
