We are a nonprofit legal center located at Pace Law School, with satellite offices at the White Plains and Yonkers Family Courts.HIGHLIGHTS:● Represented victims of domestic violence by interviewing clients, drafting petitions for Temporary Orders of Protection, and Temporary Child Support/ Custody (if applicable) ● Prepared clients for oral testimony and argued clients’ cases before a Family Court judge in ex parte proceedings● Instructed clients on service of orders and coordinated with child support enforcement representatives● Provided official referrals to victims for community resources ● Referred qualifying clients for ongoing legal representation SPECIALTIES:With an experienced staff and a team of dedicated volunteers, including attorneys, other professionals, and students, we have built an effective, coordinated community response to interpersonal violence. Although we help clients learn editing and proofreading strategies, we do not merely direct writers to "fix" grammatical errors—and we certainly do not copy edit the writer’s work. Finally, we show clients how to locate and use online and print resources to help them follow models of formatting and documentation style, but we do not do the work for our clients.
