Working as an emergency room scribe involved real-time documentation for medical procedures and patient encounters throughout the emergency department. As a scribe, I worked alongside emergency physicians and other medical professionals, capturing detailed notes and medical histories during patient exams, as well as tracking vital signs, lab results, and treatment plans.My duties as a scribe included documenting patient charts and reports, entering data into electronic medical records systems, and ensuring that all the medical documentation was accurate, complete, and up-to-date. As an emergency scribe, I became comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, as emergencies can arise at any time. I developed strong communication skills, to be able to work well under pressure, and have a good understanding of medical terminology and procedures. Additionally, I had to be able to work flexible hours, as emergency departments are typically open 24/7, and mainly worked overnight throughout my years as an ED scribe.
