As connector I like to make connections between topics, processes, policy and people. Colleagues describe me as enthusiastic, ambitious, social and open-minded. My broad interest ensures that I never stop learning and that I am always looking for new challenges. I have an eye for the spatial and social environment with attention for people's (risk) perceptions, awareness and behaviour. I am analytically strong, people and result-oriented, and not afraid of complexity. Here I like to focus on creative solutions that fit with stakeholders' interests, are cost-effective and add to the spatial quality of an area.I am interested in water systems and global change, particularly in sustainable use of the environment and adaptation to climate change. Guaranteeing a safe living environment with sufficient and clean water under changing conditions is a recurring challenge which intrigues me. In my work I enjoy finding the right mix of multi-layered safety solutions - including preventive measures, spatial adaptation and crisis management - promoting integral and innovative development in which human-environment interactions and participation play a pivotal role. I mainly apply my knowledge in water quality and quantity, and climate change adaptation projects - emphasising 'living with water' rather than 'fighting against water'.
