Oversee coordination and development of LA County DHS's California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) health initiatives for unhoused individuals and people leaving LA County jails, juvenile halls, and detention centers.

Served as an executive lead for creating a culture of collaboration and engagement with internal and external stakeholders for DHS's Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism (EDIA) initiative. Established the first EDIA committee and initiated several DEI-related efforts for the DHS outpatient clinical network.

The Director, Community Initiatives serves as the primary contact for the Department of Health Services Director, Community Programs, Office of Diversion and Recovery (ODR), and Housing for Health (HFH). The Director, Community Initiatives provides leadership and direction to the 26 DHS Health Centers and Juvenile Court Health Services (JCHS) in the implementation of DHS efforts as well as supporting locally-led efforts to increase the community presence and relevance of Ambulatory Care Network health centers.

Lead efforts to integrate services on a 38 acre medical campus with non-DHS campus and campus adjacent partners including the MLK Community Hospital, Charles Drew University, Exodus Psychiatric Urgent Center, the Departments of Mental Health and Public Health as well as future occupants of a re-purposed acute care building. Responsible for behavioral health integration as social work director at the MLK Outpatient Center.

Current projects include providing expertise and support for the implementation of the newly established Office of Diversion and Reentry and expansion of substance use disorder services under LA County's Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System.

Instructor for health services management, policy, and leadership core courses for Masters of Public Health students enrolled in the Urban Health Disparities Program.

UMMA’s mission is to promote the well-being of the underserved by providing access to high-quality health care for all, regardless of the clients’ background or ability to pay. UMMA was created in the wake of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, when seven UCLA medical and graduate students decided to use their talents and skills to help heal the riots’ devastating social and economic repercussions. Since that time, UMMA has continued to provide a wide range of health-related services to children and adults in South Los Angeles. The President/CEO, in consultation with the Board of Directors, is responsible for the development of the clinic's strategic vision.-Transformed UMMA from a free clinic to federally funded community health center-Expanded agency from a 2 to 40 employee institution.-Increased annual budget from $70,000 to $4 million -Diversified revenue streams from 100% private contributions to foundation grants, third party reimbursement, expanded donor base, and federal funding. -Expanded services and volume from 800 patient visits to 20,000 visits/year
