As a Sr. Process Engineer, I continued to lead multidisciplinary engineering projects and continued to own the Process Safety Program portfolio at P&G. In this role I was entrusted to lead projects with new clients which posed its own unique set of challenges. These challenges included learning how each customer does businesses and their internal work processes while maintaining target budgets. One significant accomplishment in this role was leading the design and implementation of a $10M dust explosion risk reduction project at a confectionary plant. This project posed not only an aggressive engineering schedule but also a requirement that all work be completed within a 2-week shutdown window, which was unprecedented for the plant. Recognizing the importance of this, I worked alongside my client to set priorities, drove technical discussions, and forecasted potential problems which kept the project ahead of schedule ultimately resulting in the successful implementation of the work and recurring business for the organization.

As a Jr. Process Engineer, I was responsible for the overall execution of capital projects including the design, construction, and commissioning phases within the utilities and manufacturing space. In this role I discovered my passion not only for the fast-paced work environment that encompassed external client work but also the thrill of working alongside my clients to help them achieve their infrastructure and operating goals. My most notable accomplishment in this role was when I took over the Process Safety Program portfolio at Procter & Gamble’s Belleville, ON facility. This was a role historically done by a more senior engineer and I was challenged to learn the technical skills required to be successful. I was also responsible for improving overall program efficiency through the development of new work processes and standards resulting in an annual cost reduction of 40%. In doing so, I developed the skillset to handle ambiguous problems and provide tailored solutions that took into consideration the unique characteristics of my client’s equipment while minimizing installation cost and manufacturing downtime.

I worked as a Design Analyst in the Process Mechanical Engineering group where I was responsible for working in engineering teams to execute internal engineering projects throughout the campus. These projects ranged from site wide steam piping upgrades to overseeing the design phase of two new waste treatment systems for the facility. Most notably, I was involved in the design of a high-profile international waste transfer system where I led different engineering teams to complete a design description report to be submitted for regulatory approval. This was a major accomplishment in my career because I not only had to familiarize myself with the technical aspects of the report but also work with different stakeholders across the organization to complete the report. In the end the report was submitted for regulatory approval ahead of schedule, allowing the company to meet its contractual Performance Obligations (POs) and avoid financial penalties.
