I created Batenka.ru in 2007 as a hobby and led it into becoming one of the well-known news outlets in Russia and other Soviet-block countries.Despite hurdles of being a journalist in Russia, our team told stories of ordinary people and continuously exposed corruption, violation of human rights, and other injustices.Ensured that the company helped young media professionals gain experience and introduced them to the industry; we mentored almost 2000 writers and helped hundreds of non-fiction writers begin their careers.Our news articles have received 100+ nominations for various awards and won several. Besides, the Russian state censored our articles a dozen times, and we fought with the government for the right to publish complex stories (and have lost the battle!).

Without a single investor, my partner and I built an independent publishing company with 110 employees, 1500+ freelancers, and $2,5 million yearly revenue at its peak.It contained one of the first podcast networks in Russia with 40+ & 400+ episodes; a brand-content studio was creating media projects; a book publishing department; and four independent digital and printed media.We attracted visionaries and like-minded people to create unique media content that matched international standards. Still, unfortunately, the company was swollen by the pandemic in 2020, and we shut it down due to financial collapse.
