Yejide Cordner BA, MAHello! I am a Trinbagonian multi-media maker who leverages her diverse interests, skills and professional experience across the creative sector to develop meaningful and impactful projects. My work explores the intersection of cultural education and heritage preservation in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.I have a BA in Visual Art (2015, First Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and a MA in Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Culture (2022, Distinction) from the University of Westminster, London. I am also the recent winner of a UNESCO Transcultura scholarship (2023) for the study of built heritage restoration. I am drawn to projects that require a creative and critical thinker. Through my collaborative approach to work and focus on accessibility and sustainability, I hope to foster greater awareness and appreciation of the many facets of Caribbean culture, both regionally and internationally.

ResearcherTrinidad And Tobago Carnival Museum Dec 2022 - Jun 2023My work with the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival Museum was my first curatorial opportunity after completing my Masters. I was the lead Researcher and Junior Curator of the museum’s second exhibition, “The Story of Jouvay”. This interactive exhibition was a detailed timeline of the creation and evolution of Trinidad and Tobago’s Jouvay from inception to present day, with a specific focus on Jouvay’s contributions to Masquerade, Steelpan and Calypso. My responsibilities included: - Conducting primary and secondary research- Working with the lead Curator to develop the exhibition’s narrative- Conceptualization of exhibition layout- Object sourcing- Object labels and captions- Creation of informational posters- Sourcing of service providers- Exhibition installation- Curation of audio/visual media for exhibition- Documentation of exhibition for museum’s archives -
