CurrentEnforcement of compliance with respect to withholding, remitting, and reporting requirements of various Acts including the initiation of assessments through the examination of taxpayer books and records; the provision of information to taxpayers.Organizes, schedules, and examines taxpayer’s books, records, and supporting documentation pertaining to unreported income, taxable benefits, and other amounts deducted or held in trust.Examines accounting documents, primarily at the taxpayer’s or a representative’s place of business, to determine amounts outstanding with respect to the legislation administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).Inputs data into mainframe and software applications to support examination findings, determines assessment amounts including penalty and interest owing, prepares reports, working papers, information slips and provides the taxpayer with documentation of examination results.Provides an explanation regarding amounts assessed or outstanding; employer compliance requirements; legislation; CRA policies; employer account, Air Travelers Security Charge (ATSC) and GST/HST transactions; discrepancies in withholding amounts and the examination process.Obtains outstanding GST/HST returns and information slips from taxpayers or their representatives.Collects outstanding amounts or negotiates an arrangement for payment conforming to pre-established criteria; documents information to establish the taxpayer’s ability to pay, support and guarantee an arrangement; and to facilitate the collection of outstanding amounts.Prepares referrals to other internal clients and other departments or agencies.
