PROF. YEMI OKE, Ph.DProfessor (Energy/Electricity Law) Yemi Oke had his LL.M and PhD degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Canada; LL.B from University of Ilorin, Nigeria; B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He is the Managing Partner/Principal at MJS PARTNERS (Lgsl Practitioners, Consultants and Chartered Arbitrators.Yemi is a pioneering specialist and leading expert/scholar in Electricity Law in Africa. He has authored six major books on the subject of Energy Resources and Electricity Law, including a pioneering book titled; “Nigerian Electricity Law and Practice (2021; 2013)”. He is an astute legal practitioner, internationally renowned scholar and author of numerous legal papers. At various times in the course of his legal training, he was the 'Best Performance Award Winner, Department of Public Law University of Ilorin, Nigeria; Best Performance Award Winner, Department of Private and Property Law, and was also awarded several prizes in other law subjects in the same University. For his postgraduate education, he was recipient of the prestigious 'York University Scholarship for Academic Distinctions' and 'Peter W. Hogg Award' (for exceptional students with demonstrable leadership potentials) at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Ontario, Canada and the 'Willard Z. Estey Fellowship for Research and Teaching Excellence' among other scholarship/fellowships by the same institution. He was at various times counsel in leading law firms in Nigeria Babalakin & Co; Olaniwun Ajayi and KPMG Nigeria. In the course of his graduate studies, he taught at the York University and Ryerson University both in Ontario, Canada before joining the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
