Yennifer Martinez has dedicated the last ten years of her life to the animal rights movement. In 2013, PETA Latino was born —and Martinez jumped at the chance to help get it started as one of two founding employees.Today, as PETA Latino’s senior marketing manager, Martinez oversees all of the division’s online efforts and campaigns, including all social media—which, under her leadership, has grown from just 5,000 followers to more than 4 million.Her work has been instrumental to all the animal rights victories that PETA Latino has contributed to, including the shutdown of Ringling Bros. circus, Quintana Roo’s ban on bullfighting, and Colombia’s ban on testing cosmetics on animals. PETA Latino—whose motto reads, “Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
