Kai Wen has bathed in arsenic-contaminated water, travelled to the arctic's edge, and slept in Asia's largest slum, all in the name of telling stories. Through his photographs and videos, he hopes to better understand the human condition, and find himself in the process. Kai Wen has a strong interest in photojournalism as he has been working regularly with the Singapore Press Holdings to produce works in Lianhe Zaobao and Omy.sg. He has also produced thought-provoking photographs for Lien Aid, a local NGO, and showcased them in an exhibition at Vivo City in 2008. His documentary, "One Room Flat"​, won numerous awards at film festivals, including three Silver Medals at the Crowbar Awards 2009. His education at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI) has seen him leading a team of twenty student photojournalists as Photo Editor of The Nanyang Chronicle, and being sent to Istanbul as a travel writer. He travelled to the Arctic's Edge in June 2015 to shoot a documentary on climate change.Kai Wen is currently running his own media company, The Yeo Gallery, which specialises in event and documentary photography and videography. He works closely with clients such as Facebook, Google, The Singapore Tourism Board, and other agencies for corporate work, while creating documentary content for Mediacorp Channel 8 News. He is also a part-time educator at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at the Nanyang Technological University, co-teaching a hands-on newspaper module.
