► Led Samsung’s immersive audio standardization activities in the following international standards organizations: MPEG, ATSC, CTA, and UHDA. ► As the lead Samsung delegate in the MPEG Audio Sub-group, I ensured (often after multiple rounds of negotiations with other members) that Samsung IP was accepted into the MPEG-H 3D Audio Standard.► As the lead Samsung delegate and the Vice-Chair of the ATSC 34-2 Audio Ad hoc Group , I ensured that Samsung's strategic objectives in the selection of the ATSC 3.0 audio system were accomplished.► I continued to chair the Audio Task Force, a cross-lab group of researchers within SRA-Dallas, focusing on all things audio, speech, and natural language. This group brainstormed and incubated new project ideas, developed proof-of-concept demos in the IoT (Internet of Things) and VR (virtual reality) areas and generated project proposals.

I was also the technical and project lead on internal speech and audio projects that addressed key pain points for Samsung business units. Last but not least, I created a cross-lab audio interest group, called the Audio Task Force, which focused on prototype design and development using speech recognition, common sense reasoning, and IoT technologies.► As the lead Samsung delegate in the MPEG Audio Sub-group, I ensured (often after multiple rounds of negotiations with other members) that Samsung IP was accepted into the MPEG-H 3D Audio Standard.► As the lead Samsung delegate and Chair of the ATSC 34-2 Audio Call-for-Proposals Authoring Group, I ensured that Samsung's concerns regarding subjective audio testing were adequately addressed and the technical integrity of the entire ATSC 3.0 audio system evaluation process was maintained.► I successfully completed the following internal audio/speech projects, as Team Leader, to address key pain points of Samsung business units:✓ Spatial Audio using Higher-Order Ambisonics (2013)✓ Acoustic and Language Modeling of Four English Dialects (2013)✓ Farsi Speech Recognition (2014)► For the two speech recognition projects, I worked closely with the Center for Robust Speech Systems (CRSS) at the University of Texas at Dallas to collect and develop speech corpora consisting of speech from hundreds of speakers, recorded under various noise conditions.► I created an Audio Task Force, a cross-lab group of researchers within SRA-Dallas, focusing on all things audio, speech, and natural language. Led ETSI’s liaison activities with 3GPP SA4 and ITU-T to push for TI’s speech coding IP to be used as the DSR front-end.
