    Completed doctoral research in chemical engineering with a focus on filtered two-fluid model (TFM) development for industrial-scale gas-solid CFD simulations and served as a teaching assistant in engineering courses. Published journal articles and presented in conferences. Prepared progress reports for funding agencies.• Developed fundamentally based filtered TFM equations (and a methodology to construct them) for coarse-grid simulations of gas-solid flows in industrial-scale fluidized systems which could readily be incorporated into existing multi-phase flow CFD codes and decrease computational cost severalfold. The model was widely used and journal articles were cited by Multiphase CFD community.• Built computational codes in FORTRAN and MATLAB, allowing for extraction and analysis of data for constructing 2D and 3D filtered TFMs from highly resolved simulations of the kinetic theory model using a mesh ~ 10 particle diameter.• Verified model fidelity via comparison of coarse-scale statistical results from filtered model and highly resolved “kinetic theory based” model and conducted validation studies against experiments to demonstrate model capabilities.
