I became the TA for a graduate school elective course in the business school that focused on financial statement analysis and managerial accounting. I met with the course instructor for training and direction to assist him with the course load, including developing quiz and exam questions, grading tests and homework assignments, holding office hours, and other educational and administrative tasks.The skills I acquired through this experience include: analytical thinking, teaching others and adapting to their learning styles and needs, simplifying complex concepts, and creating metrics and testing tools to measure student progress.

I worked as a tutor at the UT Learning Center for economics and accounting courses. This was one of the stepping stone jobs that I got to hone in on coaching: it gave me a wide range of skill sets and perspectives around tutoring people with various learning styles; it allowed me to practice patience and exercise empathy in the process. I learned to break down and contextualize a subject/concept to my audience, while being patient with their learning progress. I also taught skills around how to study and develop the right learning habits for the individual.

I worked for 2 years as the resident assistant (RA) for the university residential halls. Through this experience, I welcomed new students and assisted with their transition into college life and the housing community through organizing educational/social/service/diversity programs, large hall meetings, small group meet-up's, and one-on-one's. Several programs we planned was nominated and received "program of the month" or "program of the year" awards around diversity, knowledge building, and community service from the university residential hall association and the national residential hall association across colleges. The skills I developed and the strengths I exercised include: community building, conflict resolution, communication, building trust and follow through, being open-minded and listening to different opinions, facilitate meetings, event planning and collaboration, being authentic myself, share knowledge and culture, and professional development with other RA's.
