Mr. Gong served as the President and CEO of Mirae Asset Securities (USA) Inc. His duties included developing the overall business strategy, hiring appropriately trained staff including investment professionals, managing the overall business operation of the firm and supervising the activities of its registered and non-registered employees. He was also responsible for servicing investors and monitoring and facilitating order flow in the US, Asia and European market.He has worked in a highly regulated environment in Korea and has extensive relevant experience in the securities industry in corporate finance, investment, and strategic planning. In 2001, he joined Mirae Asset Securities in Seoul, Korea, in the Finance and Strategic Planning Division where he controlled a proprietary investment portfolio composed of private equity, venture capital, convertible bond and equities etc. He prepared the M&A deals to acquire investment management companies and performed valuation, after-tax synergy and accretion/dilution analysis for the targets. While in that same position, he contributed to the establishment of a broker-dealer in Hong Kong. He was promoted to serve as the Head of the Strategic Planning Team in 2005. In this position he developed long term and short term business plans and managed the yearly budget including investment for the entire company. He has continued to participate in the evaluation and acquisition of various entities and led Mirae Asset Securities IPO, one of the largest deals in the Korean IPO market at those times. In 2009, he was promoted to his current position where he is in charge of setting up a US broker dealer & Registred Investment Advisor and managing the operation.
