• Followed object-oriented design and used multi-threaded programming techniques to build a Metrics System in Python. This system helps the team to understand the AWS service global usages. It also helps engineers to control and monitor AWS EMR to parse 500-700 files (each size is up to 500 GB) weekly in a timely fashion.• Used Java and Hadoop to create a MapReduce job to summarize users’ usage pattern (id, tools, IP address, etc) from AWS Service logs of 76 AWS services across 11 regions. All processed data were analyzed to target and filter proxy users and proxy services of AWS SDK.• Designed and implemented a loading-balance algorithm (2-D bin packing problem) for the Metrics system. This algorithm fit different sizes of files into clusters of different capacities. Therefore, all the files can be processed in one hour with as few machines as possible. This algorithm helps the team to avoid machine capacity and time waste.• Added database tables to the existing database to store processed data from Metrics. Designed and implemented database queries to identify proxy users of SDK. The numbers of direct users are very heuristic for SDK developing and releasing.
