I worked with Professor Stephen Terry on the importance of transitory shocks to firm profitability, and how they impact a firm’s long-term investment decisions. My role in this project involved writing Matlab and Stata simulation codes to add new informative covariates that allow for the estimation of heterogeneity in firm short-term shock sensitivities, which would be helpful for models of particular firm investment frictions.In Fall 2018, I worked in a Ph.D. research group that studies the impact of women’s representation on public policy at the city council level. My responsibility was mainly on the data and empirical side. Specifically, I helped generate a large dataset using information from The Census of Governments and the Annual Survey of Governments. More importantly, using STATA programming, I performed various data manipulation to create necessary variables and descriptive statistics that lay the foundation for later analysis.
