I provide apprenticeship training to land reference apprentices. This is a brand new apprenticeship standard, and I am still the only lecturer in the UK to teach this subject at colleges. In addition to this, I offer learning and development consultancy services to companies that occupy the infrastructure project space – in the UK and beyond.

Sales Factory was a small sales and marketing company. I joined the company as a director to specifically support the CEO. In addition to managing a small team of researchers, was headed up the creation, enforcement and monitoring of all business quality processes. My training skills were put to good use by my designing, conducting and documenting all training that went on at Sales Factory – both internally and externally.Often being the main point of contact for all Sales Factory customers, I was occasionally asked to facilitate conferences between senior client staff and my CEO.

Now part Mears plc, TerraQuest provides land and property information to landowners throughout the UK. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, I was responsible for the management and delivery of all stages of the Training Cycle for all staff within TerraQuest. My main function was to arrange, co-ordinate, design and deliver training solutions for all areas of the business in line with the corporate business plan. Sometimes called to present training and development ideas to the board, I also possess all the appropriate communications skills that would be expected for this position.

This was a 4-month contract in which I oversaw the delivery of training of a new financial product to staff at the bank’s Mortgage Centre in Birmingham. The training consisted of delegates studying several online “Learning Units” and then completing related Assessments. NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS1] Successfully training 150 staff who were subsequently certified as being qualified to carry out this specialised transaction (mortgatge sales) within the bank.2] Training the bank’s own regional trainers in alternative delivery methods (for better results).

These clients were all trained in bespoke systems, devised by their own internal software teams. During this time, I was also training a great deal on applications created with Crystal Reports and Lotus Notes.
