A lot of my work in retool has to do with refactoring away old hacks and building maintainable, performant and more stable replacements- deprecated the old containers and implemented a new primitives to support multi-view etc.- cleaned up and fixed a ton of layout bugs - after which we didn't need any more major initiatives to deal with layout bugs- added support for nesting list views in retool- led the effort to rewrite the retool core runtime (a performance and stability project that most thought impossible to ship) with a task force and delivered it without causing major outages- prototyped some LLM app gen ideas, some of which was incorporated into the product- implemented the new retool vector feature across the stack- mentored a couple of other engineers to ship a new version of list view with vastly improved performance

I lead a brand new team in Asana to bring our rich text experience across all platforms to the next level. My responsibilities include managing our team’s projects and roadmap with product and design, leading technical investigations, coaching and mentoring other engineers on the team and writing a ton of code.So far we have1. Fixed our long standing rich text schema debt and launched hyperlinks2. Rebuilt the rich text editor with ProseMirror in order to meet our product demands3. Launched several new rich text features in Project Brief

Worked on various projects and started leading some of them while mentoring interns and peers. Some interesting projects:1. Asana’s first home page with a drag-to-reorder grid and some fancy hover animation,2. Updating our data model to support project-level custom fields, 3. Optimizing our spreadsheet style project view with virtual scrolling while still supporting cmd+f

I worked on a team that optimizes our pageload performance, in doing so, I revamped our build pipeline with Bazel and webpack and modernized our JS module system to ES6.Later on I moved to a product team and built Asana’s first rich text toolbar.
