Spiderz was founded by Yasser Masood on June 3 2002.

After my short stint in working closely with the Systems and Finance departments to acquire the new ERP system, I was reassigned to work as the Marketing Coordinator for the company.

My key achievements at this time were to develop a marketing plan for the coop, handle coordination between different departments, manage campaign logistics, track sales metrics, ensure monitoring of sales campaigns and report results to the director's office, purchase and audit departments.

I also liaised with several marketing services companies to ensure best pricing on their services and setup relationships with reliable partners. In the process I got first-hands knowledge of how the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) market operates and how to leverage it for the benefit of your organization.

One of the key moments during one of our campaigns was an aggressive promotional offer during Eid that irked several competitors with our aggressive pricing and an exceptional, well-timed advertising campaign. It was a key moment of success and I recall this as a vivid turning point in my sales and marketing career (that was yet to begin...)

With the success of Abacus Computers and some experience in my belt, I setup Abacus Computer Education with two main courses namely, Junior Diploma in Computers and Junior Diploma in Software. These two courses were one month and three months long and covered basic introduction to computers and software usage, respectively. I was conducting part of the training alongside two other teachers who we had on our team. This was a very interesting phase in my career since I got in touch with people who had no idea about computing and training them to use computers became a very satisfying experience.

Abacus Computer Eduction at the time was my most profitable business and only in the first week of beginning the institute and conduting door-to-door marketing, we had signed up fourteen students. Some of the key features of our training program were original training materials that I had written, hands-on training for all students, access to Internet and email, and a one hour practice session after each class. A final test to assess each student's skills was also conducted at the end of the program.

This was my first business venture at the young age of 19. Abacus Computers was a computer software and hardware sales business located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. I had setup our office in my father's shop and most of the investment at the time was also done by him.

As a youth I was a computer whizkid and used my skills to help people install DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95 operating systems and related software onto their machines. I used to troubleshoot computers, advise people on which machines to buy and acquired a software library that we used to resell alongside providing hardware support to our customers. I was helped in this business by my close friend Dawar Khalil who was working with me at the business.
