Hands-on CTO, managing Engineering & Product.

Product Engineering department is composed of 3 tribes: IaaS, PaaS and Transversal Eng. Department was created when we decided to scale the company from 300 to 600+ employees.IaaS tribe manages 8 products making 150 000+ servers run everyday. PaaS folks are creating software that transforms IaaS stack to an abstracted simple-to-use product, and Transversal are building the common interface used by our customers (Console, Devtools, API, ...).I am currently in charge of building a scalable engineering organization for product eng department:- Building an extended engineering ladder (IC & management track) - creation of principal engineers position- Creating a new engineering leadership layer (head of engineering managing engineering managers)- Hiring lots of engineers & managers - more than 50 talented peoples hired in 2022- Working with a mirrored-structure in Product department (EM working with PM, head of eng. working with lead pm, ...)- Standardizing scrum methodology in our teams- Implementing a demo-culture for our teams to be proud to present what they've done- Structuring the roadmap and delivery of our teams - more than 10 new products out in 2022- Optimizing the development lifecycle for our products- Documenting our engineering practices (deployment, QA, ...), sharing most of them through an internal Engineering Management Academy- Making our teams communicate more and more to avoid silosProduct Engineering department is made of 120+ engineers, 20+ engineering managers, and 3 head of engineering, reporting to CTO.

UXP was created to gather everything that is visible for our customers and has a transversal function: front-end console, devtools, API gateway, billing, website, technical documentation, product design & visual design.As VP UXP, I was responsible of creating the framework for all these teams to work together.

Scaleway biggest challenge was to show customers it was not a lab/mvp anymore. Teams were delivering cloud services, and we needed to present them as a cloud ecosystem.Most urgent topic was to create a new Cloud Console that was easier to use than other competitors have today. We've created a simple and intuitive Console, with a cool user experience, that our customers loved.Then, as more and more products were getting out, we needed to scale this front-end team and this console, for fast & efficient integration for all products.Front department was also responsible of the external API our customers have access to. We wanted to have a unified DX between the different API (for example, same taxonomies, same verb for common action between teams, ...)Our Console & Developer Experience have clearly been recognized by our client as a big advantage.

Many products were launched at the beginning of Scaleway. One of them was the Monitoring product:- for clients to monitor their services easily without needing to use Datadog/Newrelic/...- to monitor internally our 150 000+ serversI've hired the initial team (composed of 6 Devops) and built the strategy/roadmap around this product.The product was delivered internally.

I've founded and managed Cogit Studio, a consulting company, specialised in front-end. Out of engineering school, we created the company to help customers improve their web strategy.Among our services:- Front-end development (HTML / CSS / JS)- React projects- React Native apps- Back-end projects (NodeJS / PHP / Symfony)- CMS (I've been an open-source contributor in SPIP CMS)- Objective-C development (3 apps developed)- Android (Java) development- Techical consulting / strategy- Hosting & Infrastructure (web / virtualization / BI infrastructures)As a cofounder, I've been managing the company, mentoring our developers, developing our commercial packages, renting offices, maintaining our finance, ...Among our clients: BETC (Havas), Crédit Agricole, Schneider Electric, Peugeot, Danone, Fédération Française de Rugby, l'Oréal, Ogilvy, Netflix, ...The three last years of revenue of Cogit were rounding at more than 550k€.
