Longtime activist and advocate Yolanda Berkowitz is founder and president of the Friends of Miami Animals Foundation and on the national board of the Humane Society of the United States. Berkowitz also serves on the board of The Miami Foundation, a community organization dedicated to investing in people and groups driving change through civic leadership, community investment and philanthropy. Berkowitz volunteered for nearly 20 years with the Guardian ad Litem Program advocating for abused and abandoned children and served as a past chair of the Voices for Children Foundation, as well as the boards of the United Way of Miami, the Jackson Health Foundation and Chapman Partnership for the homeless.
