In my current role as Director of External Affairs/PIO at the Howard County State's Attorney's Office, I work in a variety of capacities. In addition to serving as a liaison to the media and fielding media inquiries, I also develop and manage our social media channels and create daily content for our office website. I also assist with internal policy and procedure writing and craft external communication including speeches/talking points, press releases and case updates & reports. I serve as an ambassador for the office interacting with local, state and federal agencies to support programs and legislative proposals. I am also responsible for our office's involvement in community events such as National Night Out, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Law Enforcement Torch Run, etc. During the legislative session, I put on a new hat as Legislative Affairs Director reviewing proposed bills and making recommendations to strengthen those bills before presentation to the MD General Assembly. I have taken on these roles and more since joining HoCoSAO in April of 2019. Prior to my time at HoCoSAO, I worked as a reporter/producer for more than 2 decades as an Emmy-Award winning Reporter/Producer with experience in the broadcast television industry both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. As an industry veteran, I have the skill set needed to perform a large number of duties and work in a variety of capacities: field producer/reporter, copy editor, line producer, segment producer, researcher, booker, on-air host/reporter/anchor. During the course of my career, I have worked for every major television entity: ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS. My goal is to use my diverse talents and breadth of experience to produce compelling, well-written stories that intrigue viewers and raise their level of awareness.Specialties: Ability to write, edit and produce stories without compromising accuracy and credibility, strong copy editor, good working knowledge of national and international news, thorough researcher, ability to make smart decisions under deadline pressure, proven track record of producing unique human-interest stories, willingness to work as a team player.
