Director Analyst in Gartner’s IT Procurement, Asset and Vendor Management team, focusing on supporting clients in maturing their IT software asset management [SAM] discipline. Conducting research on IT software asset management including tooling best practices as well as SAM tool selection. Coverage includes software license maintenance renewal optimization, IT/technology software asset management organization – structure and operations, IT/technology software asset practices, processes and metrics, software asset management trends, strategy, compliance, governance and policies. SaaS consumption and license management, SAM process automation – tools and vendors.

Provide oversight, leadership and develop strategy for the Software Asset Management program. Manage enterprise software asset inventory, discovery, and licensing; major annual software renewals with strategic vendors (IBM Passport renewal and Microsoft annual true-ups) and provide continual software license guidance and interpretation of licensing terms to business teams. Orchestrate the development of processes for asset, license, and infrastructure management, leveraging technical and strategic expertise, as well as key vendor relationships to achieve success. Work across the organization to develop negotiation strategies to maximize the business value of software license agreements, optimize cost savings on software assets owned, and perform contract analysis. Regularly develop and present reports to senior leadership on SAM initiatives/project status, compliance risk and emerging issues in software licensing. Develop processes for managing SaaS agreements and cloud deployments. Partner with Configuration Management and Enterprise Monitoring Developers and Analyst to help with ensuring the repository of IT assets are modeled and mapped accurately in the uCMDB – audit discovery systems/tools to identify data gaps and drive resolution paths with the Team. Manage identifying and documenting IT assets.

Worked directly with a non-profit’s leadership team, the General Counsel, Chief Technology Officer, and the Senior VP, to improve the IT negotiating strategy through careful evaluation of existing practices and development of comprehensive lists of challenges and opportunities. Evaluated and investigated IT functionality through a comprehensive approach of looking at the physical environment, technology contracts in place, and the existing vendor/supplier performance issues. • Risk Management: Analyzed the organization’s risk, and collaborated with leadership to develop and implement a plan aimed at establishing more reasonable contract terms with key vendors, ultimately balancing the risk.

Advised and assisted with information security, risk, governance management and privacy compliance. • Effectiveness Monitoring: Developed comprehensive metrics and reporting strategies on the effectiveness of the IT Security Compliance Program. • Project Management: Oversaw the risk assessments of the company’s legacy and non-legacy web sites and web applications, in addition to tracking remediation of identified defects.

Managed all license compliance/audit engagements throughout the grant lifecycle, in addition to providing subject-matter expertise in representing the organization as the principal customer contact on license agreement and contract compliance matters. Supported customer and internal requests for information related to licensing. Analyzed customer purchase data/license agreements/maintenance records and customer software implementation to identify compliance gaps and build solutions to mitigate or resolve. Utilized audit tools to assess and validate audit findings and present to senior staff.
