In this role, I manage a team of economists and provide direction on research and analysis of trends in the domestic and international economy and identify areas of interest to link to current and future strategic priorities of the National Treasury. I coordinate the government’s macroeconomic policy by representing Treasury on various inter-departmental technical committees both assessing new policies with evidence-based prior learning; developing key criteria to monitor outcomes and objectives reached and monitoring and evaluating policies and activities against stated criteria. As a senior manager, I give input into the strategic direction of National Treasury and the division in particular; mentor junior officials; and guide other officials in the division and to a lesser extent across National Treasury, in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders; providing guidance on achieving objectives, using processes effectively and efficiently to further the National Treasury position.
